Indian Ocean Restaurant
Glengormley, Belfast
Context:
The Indian Ocean Restaurant in Glengormley is one of the most stylish and exclusive oriental restaurants in Northern Ireland.
It features an architecturally and stylistically ornate interior – one that benefits from its dramatic yet tasteful lighting display.
Specification:
Both internal and external Cold Cathode Lighting (CCL) schemes were installed by AM Light. Cumulatively, they feature over 200 metres of linear and curvi-linear lamps, fully dimmable and low voltage, applied to the architectural features of the restaurant.
Solution:
Exterior: on the outside, the contour details of the feature windows are lit by surface mounted Violet CCL lamps. These not only show off the building to dramatic effect, but create a sense of anticipation for the subtle elegance within the restaurant.
Interior: the lower coves of the double vaulted ceilings are illuminated by Violet CCL. Their upper tiers are lit by Magenta. Their combined effect is to create a greater awareness of the ceiling space and induce an atmosphere of loftiness. Uplighting on each of the 20 feature pillars is provided by a Violet CCL lamp. This not only complements the ornate marble that clad the pillars, but also adds to the rich, opulent atmosphere of the restaurant.
The ornate bar features a concealed downlight around its profile, while backlighting picks out detail on the etched glass. Warm White CCL highlight the elegance of the drapes adorning the feature windows.
